Tai Chi, Dementia Care and Falls Prevention

There is a substantial body of research that documents the health benefits of Tai Chi. The list is long but includes, reducing blood pressure, slowing the progression and pain relief from rheumatoid arthritis, improved sleep quality, relief from migraines and, reducing the symptoms of parkinsons.

In this video, Dr. Samuel Nyman, Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Winchester in the UK, starts by explaining his motivation for researching tai chi for people living with dementia and their loved ones.

Dr. Nyman goes on to outline the results of the TACIT clinical trial that looked at tai chi and falls prevention.
