About

Cooking workshops for people with an autistic spectrum disorder.

Inspired by and working in partnership with Life Coach, Krien Jozeph, during this one-year project funded by the Triodos Foundation, we organised monthly cooking workshops to explore with participants a different type of diet than they were used to. The food was prepared largely according to the GAPS Diet. All people on the Autism Spectrum suffer from issues in the gut. This diet focuses on removing foods that are difficult to digest and damaging to gut flora and replacing them with nutrient-dense foods to give the intestinal lining a chance to heal and seal. This generally has a positive effect on well being.

Along the way cooking skills improved, a sense of community formed, and a recognition that changes in diet could lead to improved wellbeing grew among participants.
